​​Dr Suen is a Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Specialist, renowned for advanced and minimally invasive procedures for colorectal and pelvic floor management. His expertise includes colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, complex proctology conditions, defecatory disorders and anal incontinence. 

After completing the medical degree from the University of New South Wales, he undertook training in surgery at different surgical units across NSW. The attainment of surgical fellowship did not stop him from pursuing the passion in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery. Dr Suen undertook further study in Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney with his dissertation on the management of bowel obstruction from bowel cancer using colonic stent. Additionally, he further undertook specialty training for colorectal fellowship with Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).  

Soon after he accomplished the colorectal training, Dr Suen was immediately appointed by the Colorectal Unit at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, one of the world-leading colorectal units. Dr Suen is innovative with expertised skills and passionate with precision. He has led the unit in advocating and establishing bowel cancer prehabilitation program, and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Program (ERAS) in which he believes bowel cancer management involves multidisciplinary approach for treating the diseases and patient’s quality of life after recovery. Dr Suen is pioneered in complex proctology conditions by using modern minimally invasive procedures such as Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation- Rectal Anal Repair (HAL-RAR), Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment + Over The Scope Clip (VAAFT + OTSC) to name a few. Adding to his skills in pelvic floor specialty, the comprehensive anorectal physiology assessment assists him to make an accurate diagnosis for all the defecatory disorders and anal incontinence.

Dr Suen’s passion also extends to clinical education and research. Being a senior lecturer of University of Sydney and Supervisor for Board of Surgical training, he is dedicated and committed in teaching young doctors. Dr Suen also heavily involves in teaching multiple surgical workshops and speaking at conferences for surgeons in sharing his knowledge and experience to the surgical world. Within the community, Dr Suen has driven a number of research projects with different organisations such as Cancer Council and is actively promoting colorectal health amongst the community.
